Winter aespa childhood
Winter spent her childhood in Yangsan, Gyeongsangnam-do.
She is coming from a military family with her father, older brother, and several relatives all in the military. She was initially aspired to become a soldier herself. She attended Yangsan Samsung Middle School, where she excelled academically and was elected vice president due to her popularity among students. She was also active in sports like bowling, kendo, fencing, basketball, and badminton, and was a member of the school’s dance club.
Winter played multiple instruments such as the piano and guitar, showcasing her musical talents from a young age. In 2016, while performing at a dance festival at her school, she was discovered by an SM Entertainment talent scout. Despite never having shared her dreams of becoming a singer with her parents, she auditioned. She was accepted into SM Entertainment, and she dropped out of High School to start her training. Later she passed her GED exam (equivalent for a high school diploma).
